A diesel spill occurred in Victoria Park basin in Smiths Falls on Sunday afternoon.
The spill was quickly contained by a Le Boat attendant after an employee inadvertently put water into the diesel tank, resulting in a “very, very small amount” of diesel spilling into the Rideau.
This is the second time in three years that a diesel spill has happened by an employee of the luxury cruise boat company since 2021.
The Smiths Falls Fire Department was contacted and with their assistance, they were able to contain the spill. Officials say there was never a threat to the municipal water system.
