
No decision’s been made yet on what to do with the old water treatment plant that took structural damage due to a May fire.
Structural engineer Ryan Elliott returned to Smiths Falls council chambers Monday to present his findings on the integrity of the building and explore the option of demolition or rehabilitation.
He says both choices are feasible.

The report estimates a 20% chance of the three-story stone-masonry wall collapsing during a significant wind event.
Cost-wise, demolition would come in between $225,000-$450,000, with restoration at a projected clip between $300,000-$600,000.
