A public meeting is slated for tonight, July 12, as another company looks to expand their mining pit in Lanark Highlands.
Arnott Bros. Construction Ltd. is hoping to expand their existing McKinnon Pit on Highland Line Road, the same time as an application for a new pit adjacent to Barbers Lake and Long Sault Creek by Thomas Cavanagh Construction is causing an uproar.
Originally licenesed in 2009, they hope to grow their existing 34.3 hectare pit by 5.8 hectares, and include below water table extraction for the entire site.
They’re presenting their plan to the public at the McDonalds Corners Agricultural Hall at 7 p.m. tonight, and all are invited to attend.
