
News links from Canadian content producers, like Lake 88 on LanarkLeedsToday.ca, are now being blocked on Facebook and Instagram.
My Broadcasting Corporation (Lake 88’s parent company) President Jon Pole was blunt in his assessment of the move.
And Pole says our commitment to local news isn’t going to change.
The ban from Meta is in response to Bill C-18, which says in part that services like Facebook and Google should be sharing ad revenue with Canadian news media.
