We’re looking at another recommendation made by the Culleton, Kuzyk & Warmerdam inquest into ending intimate partner violence (or IPV) in Ontario.
Number 43 says the province must ensure survivor-informed risk assessments are incorporated into decisions made by Crowns relating to bail, pleas, sentencing, and eligibility for Early Intervention Programs for perpetrators.
Lanark County Interval House Executive Director Erin Lee says its vital to speak to victims during the process.
Lee says the risk is incredibly high for victims for the first two months after they flee an IPV situation.
