The Smiths Falls Public Library received support from the municipal heritage committee, or MHC, to make certain changes in relation to their extensive renovations.
The Library’s been designated as a heritage building since the 1970s and is continuing it’s modernization updates while remaining true to the history the building carries.
Jennifer Miller represents Smiths Falls council on the library board, and says progress continues.
The MHC agreed there’ll be no harm done to the library’s heritage upon the completion of three tasks: Removing and replacing the five-panel wooden doors with simple wooden casing and original bronze/brass hardware, and doing the same with the 19-column cast iron radiators and painted wooden baseboards.
