We continue our weekly look at every recomendation made by the jury at the inquest into the deaths of Carol Culleton, Anastasia Kuzyk & Natalie Warmerdam, aimed at ending intimate partner violence (or IPV) in Ontario.
Number 46 mandates the provincial government to explore disclosing an IPV perpetrator’s history and potential risk to future partners, aiming to create new legislation.
Lanark County Interval House Executive Director Erin Lee says each case has to be examined through a historical lens.
Lee adds the recommendation speaks to bill 274 the intimate Partner Violence Disclosure act.
Methods would have to be studied in order to apply it to a rural model. Stakeholders such as Interval House and the OPP in addition to the legal system would all have to be involved in the process.
