Fall is a great time to test the water in your private well. Public Health says it’s good to test your well water three or four times a year.
It’s a service offered by the Leeds-Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit at cost.
Jessica Zehnal, a health protection team supervisor, says a good rule of thumb is to test your water as the seasons change.
This accounts for temperature fluctuations, increased rainfall, surface contamination from falling leaves, and agricultural activities, all of which can introduce different risks to well water quality.
