Erin Lee, Executive Director of Lanark County Interval House commended Lanark County Council for their dedication to combating intimate partner violence (IPV).
Lanark County was the first in Ontario and Canada to label IPV as an epidemic after a 2022 inquest into 2015 murders in Renfrew County. This inspired over 40 other Ontario municipalities, including Ottawa and Toronto.
Lee highlighted the power of small communities in effecting change and called for continued collaboration, increased funding for IPV agencies, and sustained efforts to drive change in Ontario.
