Lanark County has declared itself serious on the matter of climate change but at least one lower tier municipality is worried the senior body hasn’t allowed sufficient time to receive feedback on its Climate Action Plan.
At the Carleton Place municipal meeting September 19th, those worries were voiced by Chief Administrative Officer Diane Smithson.
General comments submitted include the need for the plan to incorporate more specific targets that are measurable and time specific; funding to achieve educational and marketing goals, and support for lower tier municipalities in terms of lending consultation services rather than forcing them to hire external consultants when they develop their individual climate action documents.
Smithson wants to get the Carleton Place responses into Lanark County right away.
Council supported the CAO’s request.
