Upper Canada District School Board Trustee Curtis Jordan has had their suspension lifted after it was found Jordan breached the board’s code of conduct in June.
The reason behind the suspension was kept private at the time, but a report made public later cites the code violation came from Jordan, an openly-queer person, making accusations of homophobia during a phone call with Board Chairman John McAllister and Education Director Ron Ferguson in April.
The code of conduct report was presented to the board in a private session Wednesday night and included comments from Jordan, which McAllister stated following the session.
A second code of conduct investigation into Jordan followed after a complaint was made by vice-chair Corina Parisien on July 24th.
That report was also presented in the closed session, which found that Jordan’s (unspecified) alleged comments in this second case did not breach the code of conduct.
A decision that didn’t sit right with Ward 6 Trustee Lisa Swan.
In a silent vote on both matters, the decision to lift the sanctions following the code of conduct violation, as well as clearing Jordan on the second investigation, both passed.
