Merger discussions continue between the Leeds, Grenville & Lanark District Health Unit and neighbouring boards.
The province has mentioned their desire to have health units serve no less than 500,000 people, which would mean mass amalgamation for many rural communities.
Board member Richard Kidd says as they’re exploring the positives of a changing landscape.
Kidd says for our listening area, a merger would mean a substantial expansion.
Right now it’s a voluntary process with funding help for merger costs, but at this stage things remain very preliminary.
