The Smiths Falls Bears are making headlines across the country.
The CCHL franchise was named the best Jr. A team in Canada for the second week in a row by the CJHL after an 8-0 start to the season.
The CJHL Top 20 Rankings are compiled during the course of the regular season by an independent scouting service and are determined using a variety of factors during the process.
Their perfect record was extended to 11-0 after the latest rankings came out, before it was snapped Sunday when they lost 3-1 to the Carleton Place Canadians after beating them 8-4 on Friday.
Ahead of the weekend, Lake 88 asked Head Coach and General Manager Pat Malloy if that outside noise is making its way into the locker room.
Malloy doesn’t put much stock into these rankings, but says the best thing about being the top seed is the attention it draws to their players and program.
The Bears set out determined to reverse their fortunes from a year ago, when they fell in Game 7 of the Bogart Cup Final to the Ottawa Junior Senators.
