Inverness Homes has applied for a Development Permit application for the property at 28 High Street Carleton Place, known locally as the former Findlay Foundry.
The foundry itself was known for the manufacture of Findlay wood and coal stoves, sold around the world in a bygone era- but the brownfield site has sat vacant this past half century-plus.
After what has also seemed a protracted timeframe, elected representatives are now poised to approve its development.
Under the watchful eye of Niki Dwyer, Director of Development Services for the Town, some of the contradictions were clarified in discussions earlier this month.
The idea of the taller units was ascribed to three “Strategic Properties” in town in 2014, but is now consistent with provincially-mandated neighbourhood intensification- i.e., “up-not out.”
The discussion returns to Council for formal approval Tuesday
