Bobbi-Jo Craig’s new focus on life is raising awareness for organ donation and fighting for change to make it easier for donors and families to receive the life-saving procedures.
Craig’s husband Chris passed away in March after being listed for a liver transplant in December and being unable to find an eligible live donor.
She says our local hospitals aren’t equipped for organ harvesting, so those who die can’t pass their organs on even if they’re a listed donor.
Craig says policies need to change so all hospitals get the necessary equipment to handle transplants.
Organ donations are handled through the Trillium Gift of Life Network and it’s important to share that you or a loved one is a donor as early as possible so arrangements can be made as healthcare workers aren’t allowed to ask.
