Ryan Smolkin, the Smiths Falls native and visionary behind Smoke’s Poutinerie, has sadly passed away. He succumbed to complications during surgery, with no additional information available at this time.
The company has conveyed their heartfelt condolences to Ryan’s family, recognizing him as an integral part of their extended family.
Renowned as a thriving property capitalist and branding maestro, Ryan Smolkin once owned a prominent branding and design firm, boasting clients such as Nike, Maple Leaf Sport & Entertainment, and Molson Breweries.
In 2009, he laid the foundation for Smoke’s Poutinerie in Ajax, Ontario, later extending its presence across Canada and into the United States.
Noteworthy for his philanthropic endeavors, he ardently supported “We Care,” an organization dedicated to helping children with disabilities unlock their potential. In 2016, he initiated the Poutine Eating Challenge to raise funds for this noble cause. In his honor, the annual event will be renamed “The Ryan Smolkin CEO Challenge in Support of We Care.”
The Smolkin Family is known locally for Smolkin Men’s Wear, originally in Smiths Falls then later in Kemptville. They too have become known for their generosity over the years.
Ryan Smolkin, a remarkable individual, left us at the age of 50.
