
The Mobile Crisis Response Team in Lanark County and Smiths Falls is busier than ever.
During an update on the cooperative effort by the Lanark County OPP, Smiths Falls Police Service, and Lanark County Mental Health, Nurse Genn Brown said mobility is key.
Members of the team pointed out how their work was getting the right help to residents in crisis and lessening the burden on hospital ERS at the same time.
That’s Smiths Falls Deputy Police Chief Jodi Empey, commenting after we leaned that mental health calls for service to police have risen dramatically in the last 8 years, to over 700 this year to date.
The program was one of the fist to launch in Ontario and has been growing every year.
