A sizeable crowd of protesters were in front of Perth town hall Tuesday morning making their opinions known about the proposed housing development by Caivan Perth GC Ltd. of the Perth golf course.
Trevor Cote was one, and said the people were there are opposed to the development for a number of reasons.
He feels it’s too big of a development and it’ll cost the town millions of dollars for the supporting infrastructure to accomodate nearly 1,000 homes.
The town already laid the ground work for the lands in regards to the sanitary lagoon system, built to accommodate 8,100 people in 2017.
The infrastructure master plan for the site was approved in 2019, two years before the developers purchased the land.
In a special committee of the whole meeting Tuesday afternoon, the town unanimously voted to oppose the appeals Caivan made to the Ontario Land Tribunal, where the case currently sits.
The company recently published a website, highlighting the development.
The first Tribunal meeting is scheduled for December 14th.
