Lanark County has identified their delegation requests for the forthcoming ROMA Conference.
They’ll be asking for an audience with the Ministry of Education, Municipal Affairs and Housing, and Ministry of Tourism Culture and Sport to discuss a number of topics.
One of which will be to ask the province to reinstate development charges on social housing developments, says county clerk Jasmin Ralph.
CAO Kurt Greaves says they’re running at a deficit on affordable housing charges, and the changes to Bill 23 is a loss of a funding stream.
The county also hopes to ask the provincial government to develop an Ontario-wide homelessness and supportive housing strategy, and a funding formula review for child care providers.
The ROMA Conference begins January 21st and runs until the 23rd.
