Smiths Falls is seeing another sharp cut to their Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund, or OMPF, for 2024.
For this year, the OMPF, the main funding stream for northern and rural municipalities, was reduced by about $116,000 to a total of about $3.47 million
CAO Malcom Morris the trend is continuing next year, but worse.
Morris says they’ve reached out to the province to get a better understanding of why this is the case.
The deficit will have to be made up elsewhere when it comes to budget deliberations next month.
