The Ottawa Valley Family Health Team, or OVFHT, have recruited a new physician to join their expanding practice at the new Carleton Place Regional Health Hub, slated to open next fall.
Dr. Bita Safaie has joined the OVFHT to mark the 15th family physician to serve the Carleton Place and Beckwith communities.
The OVFHT hopes to increase that number to 20.
CEO Peter Hamer spoke to the ongoing recruitment process for a health hub that’s a year away from opening.
Currently, their physicians are working out of the McNeely Medical Clinic. The plan is to have each new physician oversee at least 1,000 patients who don’t currently have a family doctor.
Hamer knows the need is there, but says the waitlist to secure a physician will remain closed until they can recruit more doctors.
To keep tabs on when that opens up again, check ovfht.ca and their social media channels.
