Jury recommendation no. 55 from the inquest into ending IPV in Ontario says the province must encourage Crowns to consult with the Regional Designated High-Risk Offender Crown for any case of IPV involving a high-risk offender that may meet the criteria for Dangerous or Long-term Offender designations.
Lanark County Interval House Executive Director Erin Lee has been explaining each recommendation for us every week. She says this line of communication is vital.
Ensuring the courts have every piece of information they could possibly need will only improve the outcome for the victims, and the community in general. Lee says it goes along with ensuring that all relevant and key information is gathered.
Lee spoke to the jury during the inquest.
