Coming up Wednesday at The Table in Perth is a Basic Income 101 with a Q and A program.
On top of being Reeve for Tay Valley Township Reeve and sitting on Lanark County council, Rob Rainer is the chair of the Lanark Basic Income Network.
A long champion of providing a basic income for adults that can help prop up and support those who need a hand, we asked Rainer why there’s been little movement on the matter on the county front.
Rainer says the conversation around basic income is growing because times are tough, and people are looking for solutions.
He points out basic income does exist in other forms, such as Old Age Security and the Canada Child Benefit.
The event at The Table takes place November 29th from 7 to 830 p.m.
All are welcome, but space it limited.
