Carleton Place is one of the fast growing communities in Ontario.
Guy Bourgon, Director of Public Works for the Town believes it’s better to stay ahead of infrastructure challenges rather than get caught short.
A presentation to Committee of the Whole November 21st is a case in point.
Bourgon advised elected representatives that, as the area in question is slated to get fresh asphalt and new sidewalks next year, it would be ideal if the watermain in the same area could be upsized at the same time.
Council noted Bourgon had used the strategy in the past with commendable results, and authorized that the watermain upgrade be added to the Nelson Street Project in 2024.
The work will cost an additional 460 thousand dollars and be funded through Development Charges.
