Jury recommendation no. 56 from the inquest into ending IPV in Ontario says Crowns should actively oppose variation requests to have firearms returned for any purpose, such as hunting.
Lanark County Interval House Executive Director Erin Lee says the recommendation makes an obvious point about what offenders are entitled to.
Lee says it’s black and white to her when it comes to what variation requests should be granted to convicted offenders.
Lee adds that we’re proactive here and the frequency of people getting weapons back to hunt is not as high as it once was in Lanark County.
