Jury recommendation 57 from the Culleton, Kuzyk, Warmerdam inquest into ending intimate partner violence in Ontario says the province must strengthen annual education for Crowns regarding applications for Dangerous and Long-term Offender designations in high-risk IPV cases.
Executive Director of Lanark County Interval House Erin Lee says looking at risk assessments that are in place and improving them only makes sense.
Lee says Crowns must engage in the process to make sure it works.
Lee adds there are many risk assessment tools at the ready, and improving them and determining which of those work best makes sense.
