Councillor Rickey Minnille floated the idea of changing the term length of Lanark County warden from one year to two at the latest meeting.
He felt there could be some cost savings along the way, as well as giving the county more more opportunities to participate as Eastern Ontario Warden’s Caucus Chair with a multi-year appointment.
But ultimately, it would allow the Warden to find their footing with more term to work with.
His motion failed to gain any legs however, as the rest of council opposed it for various reasons.
Councillor Rob Rainer saw things differently.
Sitting wardens are allowed to run for a second consecutive year should they choose to.
Minnille’s motion secured a seconder but was defeated on the floor.
