The 2024 budget is set for the Town of Perth, and as expected residents are opening their wallets.
Councillors unanimously passed the budget motion.
It sees municipal property taxes climb by 4% next year, and also features a 6% jump in water and sewer rates.
That means a home provincially assessed at $200K will pay an extra $121 next year to cover both raises.
Most homes are appraised much higher than that, so residents can expect an even larger increase.
I can’t believe the increase is 4% I am looking at more as my home is worth over 200. i don’t know where you would even find a house at that price . I am retired and on a pension so this means I may have to get a job to cover these costs Very sad 😞 The rentals are going to be going up also as landlords have to be able to cover this cost. Things are tight for most people already and the Table is doing all they can to help the needy people in our small town. I am very disappointed with this increase 😡
