Smiths Falls council’s awarded a contract to Stantec to craft a heritage conservation district study with the intention it eventually leads to a plan.
The town’s looking to assess the heritage attributes and characteristics of its downtown core and create an outline of how to manage change in the area while protecting and boosting the cultural and historical significance of the town.
Senior Planner Karl Grenke says not every business would be viewed under a heritage scope, should a plan be created.
The contract for the study eclipses $122,000.
