The Upper Canada District School Board released the results of the fall school climate survey that 60% of Grade 4 to 12 students took part in.
21 questions were asked of students around three main themes: equity and inclusion, mental health and awareness, and real-world learning.
The participation, answers and results vary from middle schoolers and high school students on each topic.
Research Officer Dr. Kathleen Moss weighed in with some figures.
Ward 8 Trustee David McDonald said the students did what they were asked in filling out the survey, it’s now on the board to do something with the data.
Schools will now be tasked to develop plans to address mental health and equity goals for their students, and the survey will be re-issued in April for a follow up report.
