Smiths Falls Police Service Chief Jodi Empey
The Smiths Falls Police budget has been approved for 2024.
There’s a 5% budget increase from 2023 for a total budget which falls just shy of $5.5 million.
Deputy Chief Jodi Empey explained how the budget is divided up.
There’s a 3% wage increase across all staff penciled in for 2024 in response to forthcoming contract negotiations in the new year.
In 2022 there was a total surplus of $103,000 and Empey expects another one for 2023 even with inflationary costs, which also partly accounts for the jump for next year’s operations.
The police budget has increased $635,000 since 2021.
