Google Maps: The Confederation Bridge in June 2014
Smiths Falls council awarded the Confederation Drive Bridge to design the single span Bowstring bridge they approved in Janaury to TSI Inc.
TSI will craft a detailed design of the bridge that will be painted black with a concrete deck and associated lighting. The look of the bridge was workshopped and selected by council earlier this year.
Director of Public Works and Utilities Paul McMunn says TSI is small, but mighty.
They were one of nine companies who placed a bid for the work and scored the highest rating of them all. The town will pay them just under $50,000 for their work and will be provided an update on how their design is going when the design nears completion to ensure it looks the way council envisions it.
