The first of two draft budgets made its way to Smiths Falls council chambers last week and it included a proposed tax rate increase of 2.9%
While will be made, the initial budget sees an operational increase of $830,000 from 2023, and a total of $18 million in capital funding requests.
CAO Malcom Morris explained the reasoning behind the jump in operation costs.
Council hopes to pass the budget at their February 19th meeting, but there’s many more steps to go before that.
