The provincial government is boosting funding to its Local Priorities Fund, which is a stream that supports residents in long-term care homes with complex needs like dementia and bariatric care.
Minister of Long-Term Care Stan Cho said they’re tacking on $15 million into the fund for 2024, which brings it to a total of $35 million from its inception in 2022-23.
Cho reaffirmed their government’s commitment to meeting the demand for long-term care by comparison to the previous Liberal government.
173 projects were funded last year, including nearly $90,000 for a pair of specialized equipment purchases at Fairview Manor in Almonte.
The ministry will be working with Ontario Health to review all funding proposals and the successful applicants will be informed of a funding boost in the coming weeks.
