The Smiths Falls Bears made a flurry of moves in the week leading up to the trade deadline in a bid to shore up their roster for the playoffs.
General Manager and Head Coach Pat Malloy made perhaps the biggest splash league-wide in early January, acquiring forwards Owen Watson and Lucas Culhane from the Brockville Braves for four players, money and future considerations.
Speaking to that deal, Malloy says he knows what they’re getting due to his familiarity with both players.
The Bears also swapped out their backup goaltender. They sent Dax Easter to Kemptville, which Malloy says wasn’t an easy call to make.
Backing up Labre the rest of the way is Nick Trakakis, who they acquired from Navan for a player development fee.
