The Bridge of Dreams in Princeton, BC has council considering a similar design
Smiths Falls council is considering deviating from its plans of a single-span bowstring bridge with a concrete deck and a black colour palette for something more eye-catching: A wood-paneled design similar to the stunning Bridge of Dreams in Princeton, BC.
The idea was brought forth during a meeting earlier this month with the working group and designers TSI Inc, and it caught the attention of the town.
Working group member and councillor Chris McGuire says TSI made a strong case.
Whether they stick with their current plan or go this secondary route, the horseshoe agreed that further delays in construction need to be minimized as much as possible.
Councillor Stephen Robinson is on board with exploring the option further but has reservations.
Considering it will cost much more than the $1 million price tag attached to Princeton’s Bridge of Dreams in 2010, town staff will be putting together preliminary figures by the end of February.
