The Ottawa Alliance to End Homelessness hosted a panel discussion recently with representatives from Finland discussing how they approach homelessness in their country.
A viewing of the webcast was held in Carleton Place put on by Cornerstone Landing Services for Youth and the United Way.
Finland is respected the world over for their plan of attack.
Less than 3,000 Fins are considered homeless in the country of 5.5 million.
CEO of the Y-Foundation, Finland’s largest non-profit housing company, Ojankoski Teija said the success they’ve had is due in large part to government action.
Finland has ensured the right to housing is in their constitution, its affordable housing initiative is the 4th largest landlord in the country.
