Stephen Rothwell is the new Fire Chief of Lanark Highlands.
Rothwell gradually climbed the ranks over the past 13 years in the township, beginning as a junior fire fighter and was the Deputy Fire Chief – Training and Prevention up until this latest promotion.
Rothwell’s also held the position of Public Works Manager at the Township of Montague since 2020. He’ll be replacing Gene Richardson, who is the new fire chief for the Township of Rideau Lakes.
The Fire Chief is responsible for the overall management and operation of the volunteer Fire Department including fire prevention, fire suppression, emergency response, training, Fire Code enforcement and public education/community relations.
Rothwell will begin his new role February 16th.
