Christa Lowry chaired a panel discussion on gender based violence at last month’s ROMA conference.
The mayor of Mississippi Mills is also Vice Chair of the ROMA board.
It marked the first time the issue has been discussed at a large convening venue of municipal officials.
The panel included advocates and lawyers.
The intent of the session was to provide community leaders ideas on how to take action against gender-based violence.
Lanark County was the first in Ontario to declare intimate partner violence an epidemic last year.
