Rideau Lakes Councillor Paula Banks was found to be in breach of the Township’s Code of Conduct following an investigation by the Integrity Commissioner.
Complaints were made regarding her behaviour during a January 29th budget meeting and subsequent emails Integrity Commissioner William R. Hunter deemed in violation of three sections of the code of conduct. The sections boil down to ensuring you treat fellow councillors, staff, and the public with respect and conduct yourselves with decorum.
Hunter concluded Banks did not do that, after she was upset over an alleged incident in a previous council meeting, and recommended Banks’ pay be suspended for up to 21 days.
The report and its findings are on the council agenda tonight, Tuesday, and you can read the transcripts of the meeting and emails here.
