We’re examining another recommendation from the inquest into the deaths of Carol Culleton, Anastasia Kuzyk and Nathalie Warmerdam to end Intimate Partner Violence in Ontario.
Recommendation number 64 says the province must Ensure that Probation Services reviews and, if necessary, develops standardized protocols and policies for probation officers with respect to intake of IPV offenders and with respect to victim safety.
Lanark County Interval House Executive Director Erin Lee testified before the jury. She says it’s all about ensure Parole Officers are on the same page and getting the resources they need.
Ultimately, Lee says that will help make sure offenders don’t try to manipulate the situation.
In the end it’s about making sure that systems are in place to monitor offenders to know where they are, and that they’re not trying to control the situation with a former of potential victim.
