Carebridge Community Support and Guy Saumure and Sons were on the hot seat at Perth council’s recent meeting when councillors voted to conditionally sell town-owned property at 63 Halton Street to Carebridge for affordable apartments.
Councillors relayed concerns from neighbouring property owners about the large size of the building and the need for compromise.
Planning director Johanna Bowes was blunt in her assessment of new development.
Carebridge’s CEO Robert Eves was surprised at the pushback.
Staff reminded council and the packed public gallery that the sale was only the first step in the process and there would be ample opportunity for public feedback.
