Steve Fournier says Drummond/North Elmsley Township supports the work Furry Tales Cat Rescue does for the community, but it needs to be done properly.
The group was recently denied a zoning amendment which would’ve allowed for an expansion of their cattery on the property into a building that was constructed without permits.
The Reeve says the expansion just didn’t fit where they have their operation.
Fournier says it would’ve been better if the group applied for a building permit before the construction.
Furry Tales is one of 10 properties on a private lake-front road, with the property owners footing the bill for road maintenance. A public complaint led to the initial inquiry from the Township.
We are reaching out to Furry Tales for comment.
