Why does spring bring an increase in gas prices every year?
Canadians for Affordable Energy’s Dan McTeague says during the summer months, the RVP or Reid Vapor Pressure of gasoline is required to be lower in order to reduce air pollution. This means refineries have to produce a different blend of gasoline, which can be more expensive to make.

McTeague says all gas stations in Canada cannot sell winter spec gasoline until Sept 15th, a federal regulation came into effect over 35 years ago.
