On Saturday, Carleton Place’s Environmental Advisory Committee drew healthy crowds despite some cooler than hoped for weather, for their second annual Earth Fest.
Carleton Place’s Market Square was filled with information and vendor booths and plenty of workshops and activities for young and old alike. One of the organizers, Barb Purdy, explained the reason for all the hard work and planning.
“We want to see more engagement. We have a number of initiatives we’re trying to promote such as the new composting program, which was the fruit of last year’s Earth Fest. So it’s a good time for planting seeds in peoples’ minds and from that you get good things.”
Purdy added that it wasn’t hard to get vendors and community groups on board based on last year’s successful premier.
One of the workshop presenters Alberto Suarez Estoban had some great advice on maintaining a lush organic garden while conserving water.
