The Town of Perth has announced what it calls “a major step forward in our commitment in supporting affordable housing.”
The town reports that they have passed a motion to sell 63 Halton St. for the price of $1 to Carebridge Community Support. The land will be used for an affordable housing project.
A statement says the motion is a first step towards the the development of further affordable housing opportunities, which is part of Council’s Strategic Plan.
The site of the lands sold falls in PerthWorks, a sustainable neighbourhood project that was developed by the Town in 2009.
Once the agreement is completed for the land sale, Carebridge’s application for development will be subject to the full planning process.
myFM will have more on this story in the coming days and weeks as it develops.
