The Perth and District Hall of Fame is set to welcome it’s latest group of inductees at the 2024 induction ceremony on Sunday May 26th.
The Hall’s Chair Tim Zander gives us the details about the event that starts at 1 at the Legion in Perth.
Admission is free, and Zander says their host is a familiar voice to many.
The class of 2024 includes former hockey players Jack Smith and Gord Smith. Leanne Watt enters in the Builder category. And the Perth Bantam All-Stars baseball team from 1966 is inducted in the Team Category.
Zander says Jack Smith is a highly decorated former NHL’er.
He also went to Allen Cup championship as well. See the list of his accomplishments below.
Zander says Jack’s brother Gord Smith, who also played at the highest level.
And a neat piece of trivia: Gord played the first game in franchise history for both the Washington Capitals and Winnipeg Jets.
Retired PDCI Physical Education Teacher Leanne Watt is being honoured as Builder who was involved in a number of different sports.
She was also recognized provincially with a number of OFSAA awards throughout her career.
Finally, being inducted in the Team category is the Perth Bantam All-Stars Baseball Team from 1966.
