Next week is Mental Health Week and the Leeds Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit wants you to know they are all in.
Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Linna Li says this year’s Mental Health Week centers around the healing power of compassion.
The Doctor adds that scientific evidence suggests giving compassion, receiving compassion, and allowing ourselves to experience self-compassion are all very beneficial to our mental health.
Gwendy Lapp, a Mental Health Promoter with the health unit says self compassion can be a useful tool in maintaining your mental health.
Dr. Li also says to be clear, compassion isn’t a fix-all for your mental health, but it can play a big part.
