On the heels of an announcement from the town of Perth on the sale of 63 Halton Street to Carebridge Community Support for an affordable housing project, the key driving group, Community Housing Initiative Perth, or CHIP as they are known, provided their own views on the proposal.
CHIP reminded everyone that an extensive planning process will happen for the proposed 15-unit building before any final site plan approval is granted.
To ensure a successful outcome, Carebridge CEO Robert Eves noted it’s imperative to have robust public consultation and establish a strong partnership with the town.
Builder partner Chris Saumure pointed out that current zoning allows for a building as large as 20 units and that 15 is more than a good compromise.
We’ll bring further developments as they happen.
