Usually you go to Facebook Marketplace for furniture, toys for the kids, or a deal on electronics or a local service.
But a fire truck?
Yep. You can live out a childhood dream and have your own 1996 Volvo Custom Pumper, with all the bells and sirens too.
Jimmie Adam is the owner of Iron Trade Works Inc. where they maintain and sell the trucks among other things. He bought this one from Carleton Place when they replaced their pumper.
Now, he says the buyers are usually other fire departments. With new trucks costing upwards of half a million dollars, purchasing a refurbished truck can make a lot of sense.
But he says others do look for them too.
Now if a civilian had an extra $35 thousand or so lying around, and was to but it, Adam says some modifications would have to be made.
And yes, Adam says some of them are indeed bought for fun, and to be enjoyed by others.
Now the bad news is Adam is pretty sure that after a trade show last weekend that he has a buyer.
But, if you are thinking about fulfilling a childhood fantasy, watch Marketplace closely, because he’ll be posting more.
We’ll be taking a closer look at Iron Trade Works Inc., based in Perth, in the next couple of weeks as we learn about the vital role they play to ensure first responders in eastern Ontario, Canada and around the world have the equipment they need to save lives.
